About Us
The Cincinnati Women's Society of Certified Public Accountants (CWSCPA) is the premier professional organization for CPAs in the Greater Cincinnati Metro area. The purpose of the CWSCPA is to promote the study of accountancy and applicable laws, provide continuing professional education, maintain high ethical and work standards, and provide information about accounting issues to the membership and the public. Membership of the CWSCPA is comprised of professionals in public practice, industry, government, and education.
CPAs are integral to the socio-economic fabric of our city. In addition to serving as independent and objective advisors to individuals and businesses, they are active as volunteers in their communities, providing their expertise gratis to myriad charities, causes, civic groups, foundations, and other not-for profit organizations. We are dedicated to improving the accounting, tax, management, auditing, and other professional services provided by our members to their clients, employers, and the public. To this end, we are responsive to our members and to their clients. In all matters, our integrity as an organization and as individual members will be foremost.
The vision for the future of the profession has been defined, and now it is time to implement strategies that align the CWSCPA's programs and activities to help members integrate the vision into their own firms, businesses, and organizations. One role of any association is to provide opportunities for its members to interact with each other. Through volunteer opportunities, networking, conferences, this Internet site and other programs, the CWSCPA fosters involvement in activities that allow members to communicate at various levels.

Public Relation Goals of the CWSCPA
Through the years, CWSCPA members, both individually and as a group, have volunteered in their communities in a variety of ways, from serving as treasurers on the boards of non-profit organizations to offering their expertise and assistance to non-profit agencies. CWSCPA strongly encourages member participation in public relations and public service programs which benefit their community, enhance the CPA's image and build an understanding of the services that CPAs provide.
Some of the objectives of the CWSCPA public relations efforts are to enhance the image of the CPA profession by promoting the full range of CPA capabilities and value to both external and internal audiences; to position the CWSCPA as the premier organization for female CPAs in the Greater Cincinnati area and an advocate for the public interest; and to provide public relations support to state CPA societies.
Community Service
The Community Service Program at CWSCPA provides a variety of service opportunities - from one day events, to year-long projects, to funded opportunities through an application process, to structured service learning projects. Community service also happens in a wide variety of venues. In general, community service projects are member-initiated and provide rich opportunities for learning and partnership.
The emphasis is on developing community awareness and concern, a sense of responsibility, and the skills and attitudes needed to make effective contributions to society. Community Service is GIVING, not receiving.
